CELEBRATING THE 2014 GREEK PRESIDENCY OF THE EU TOGETHER WITH FRANGOULIS!

Greece will hold the Presidency of the European Union in the first half of 2014, starting on 1 January 2014. 

To celebrate the Greek Presidency of the EU, the Embassy of Greece in Ankara in collaboration with the Ankara State Opera and Ballet, will present the world-famous tenor Mario Frangoulis to music lovers at the New Year Gala Concert on 11 January 2014.
The Ankara State Opera and Ballet Orchestra, conducted by Lukas Karytinos from Greece, successful soprano Feryal Türkoğlu and concertmaster Tayfun Bozok will also accompany Mario Frangoulis.

Entertaining Turkish music lovers at previous concerts in İstanbul, Bodrum and at the Aspendos International Opera and Ballet Festival, Mario Frangoulis performs all over the world, skilfully singing songs in five languages. The Greek tenor earned his fame thanks to his skills in blending classical with modern, traditional with new, the Mediterranean flavours he brings to opera and his unique interpretation.
Ankara State Opera and Ballet, performing to completely sold-out shows this season and having reached its peak spectator number in October, invites all music lovers in Ankara to a musical feast at the New Year Gala Concert.

Background:
Greece will hold the Presidency of the European Union in the first half of 2014, before handing over reins to Italy on 1 July 2014. It is the fifth time that Greece will hold the EU Presidency since its accession to the European Communities in 1981. The priorities of the Greek Presidency of the Council of the European Union are: growth and jobs, deepening of the European Monetary Union, tackling of illegal immigration, while safeguarding respect for human rights, the promotion of legal migration and mobility and finally, maritime policy.
